The department of the Var is one of great variety. There is the Centre Var where Flayosc is situated with its rivers, gorges and pretty Provençal villages. In the Haut Var to the north are the Gorges du Verdon - unique in Europe and second only in the world to the Grand Canyon. Here, in addition to amazing walks and views, you can go white-water rafting and climbing.
Provence Verte to the west of the region has mountains, forests,
ancient castles and monasteries and was the base of the Counts
of Provence in the Middle Ages. And don't forget the coastline
stretching from west of Toulon to east of Agay.
Beautiful bays, beaches, rocky coves - the magical Ile de Porquerolle, Toulon (the Var's busiest Mediterranean port) and of course the famous and pretty port of Saint Tropez where you can while away the hours people watching!
Flayosc is a superb base for a wonderful holiday whether you want to relax
in the sunshine or be more active - from here you can visit beautiful
perched villages, visit the many Provençal markets, walk for miles
in the beautiful
countryside and the wonderful Mediterranean coast is only approximately
40 kilometres away.
For lovers of golf there are a number of courses within easy access. Should you wish to visit further afield then the cities of Nice, Toulon, Aix-en-Provence and Marseille (amongst many others) can be visited in a day. If you fancy a winter holiday then there is skiing 87kms away at Gréolières-les-Neiges, 105 kms away at la Colle St Michel and 129 kms away at Valberg.
If you are a wine lover then some of France's oldest vineyards are to be found
in the Var and you can follow the Wine Route to discover the four AOC wines 'Coteaux
d'Aix', 'Côtes de Provence', 'Coteaux Varois' and 'Bandol'. And there's a Provençal
market somewhere close to Flayosc every day of the week.
